Bal Jagat- Children’s World Inc. has a successful partnership with a Hague Approved Agency for Guatemala, and this program is only open to those residing in Southern California. The children in this program are male and female of all ages beginning from infancy. At the time of arrival the children are generally four to six months of age. Pictures are provided for selection of the child. A background history of the child will be provided upon availability.  Single women and couples between the ages of 25 and 50 years old may adopt. Older parents must adopt older children. Marriage length must be at least two years. One divorce is acceptable for each person.  A child is referred to you within 4-6 months after your home study is approved depending upon the age and gender of request. In most cases, if you request a girl the wait is longer than if you request a boy. The child will be tested for AIDS and Hepatitis B. Parents are required to make a trip to Guatemala lasting 5 days to meet and then accompany their child into the United States and are assisted throughout the process by the cooperating agency. Prior to this travel, the child will be housed in a foster care facility.
