"Adoption is a gift of life." Hemlata Momaya, MSW, Founder
2016 Congressional "Angels in Adoption" Award Recipient
"First I would like to thank each and every one {at the agency} for your wonderful and professional work which you have done for me as it relates to both of my Russian adoptions. Bal Jagat has been with me from the beginning from 2004 to the present. Both Hemlata and my social worker, have been with me from day one. They have not only been very professional, they have been there for {me} every single time I needed them, not only when I needed a document quickly, but also emotionally. They have made the adoption process manageable and possible. Bal Jagat and its staff know how to treat people and prospective parents with complete respect. They have always been kind and understanding. I can honestly say that the entire Bal Jagat staff truly care about the well being of each and every child and takes whatever steps are necessary to assist in bringing the children home to good families. Russia is a difficult country to deal with in this process, and there have been many times that I thought I would not get my child but due to the positive and diligent attitude of Hemlata and the social worker, we have all been successful! I had the good fortune of starting with Bal Jagat, and staying with Bal Jagat on both of my Russian adoptions." - Heidi H (Adoptive mother of two daughters from Russia).
"I was wowed by the service I received ... Mausami went out of her way to connect me with organizations who could help me out - I appreciated it!" - Sandy G. (Adoptive applicant)
"I was very happy with {the agency's} services. They were very professional. Both Hemlata and Mausami had a very pleasant and warm attitude towards me and my adoption process. They both showered their interest in the process. The home study was done in an extremely short time and the report{s were} very professional. Mausami is a very good social worker and she did a very good job. The process of adoption is very sensitive for adoptive parents and I liked your agency because you are the people who want to help a child and the family to be happy. You really care! I felt that it is not just a job for you, but your life. I can highly recommend you to other adoptive parents!- Helen H. (Adoptive mother of a son from Bulgaria)
"Happy Mother's Day, without Bal Jagat, today would not be the joyous occasion that it is. For 17 years, this has been a "sacred" fortnight for us, with A.M. Birthday, Got Ya Day and Mother's Day occurring within the same time frame. Two weeks ago, A.M. turned 18. She graduates from high school in five weeks. In the Fall, she enters the University of California at Santa Barbara in the Honors Program to major in Environmental Studies. She hopes to become a Marine Biologist.
Thank you for the cosmic gift that changed both our lives." - Ellen A. (Adoptive mother of a child from Romania)
"I don't even feel like I was adopted. I don't even think about it. There's nothing else to say. I'm glad I'm in California rather than Romania. I'm happy I was put in the right hands at the right time, and if it wasn't for my parents and Bal Jagat, I wouldn't be here. I'd be in Romania, {where} I wouldn't want to be. People who adopt are doing a really good thing for someone else." - Kivu RL (Adopted child from Romania, age 19)
"Auntie Hem{lata} is like part of our family, She came to my bat mitzvah, and we go to Bal Jagat parties to see Auntie Hem{lata} and Mausami, and other kids who were adopted. I was born in Russia and was in an orphanage til my parents adopted me when I was just starting to walk. Now I'm 18 {years old} and almost ready to go to college. Who knows what would have been, if I'd stayed in Russia? I'm grateful to Bal Jagat and what they've done for me and my parents." - Miri RL (Adopted child from Russia, age 18)
"We love working with Bal Jagat, all the staff from start to finish were very kind, compassionate, nurturing and positive. Our adoption was a wonderful experience with the greatest outcome imaginable. If we searched the world over, our child couldn't be more like us- he surely was meant to be ours. This was the greatest experience of our lives and has brought us unimaginable happiness. We were so impressed with the love and care given to the children of Baby House #3 in Odessa, Ukraine. Our child obviously has been well loved and nurtured by his "first family, " and with their meager resources they gave him the best in life that they could possibly give." - Ashok & Suzie S. (Adoptive parents of a son from Ukraine)
