Special Needs, Older Healthy Children, & Waiting Children
In all countries, (Hague convention and non convention) there are many minor, moderate and major special need children waiting to be adopted. They are of all ages, from infancy to older age. Sometimes there are healthy older children who are known as “special needs,” simply because of their age. They just did not get adopted. There are more boys than girls in orphanages.
Sibling sets are waiting in many countries, and they should not be separated. Bal Jagat will only assist with the placement of two related children (no more than 2 at a time, and no unrelated children may be adopted together).
There are also waiting children in many countries, and their adoption process may be quicker. Contact us for more information.
Medical information is always provided in advance and families may consult with a pediatrician to be sure that they are capable to meet the child’s needs and parent the child. Families must thoughtfully consider which special needs they are willing to accept in advance and the severity of the need (mild, moderate, or severe) and list them in the home study.
For children with needs, each situation is reviewed on case by case basis in each country. Applicant must be able to provide proof that health insurance that will cover the child’s preexisting condition. Applicants will be asked about their child care and schooling plan, nurture plan, amount of maternity/paternity leave allowed by their employment and may be asked for additional documentation regarding financial stability. If the applicants have special skills or training it is beneficial.
If a family finds a special needs child waiting for a home on a shared list, please contact us and we will do our best to assist you to adopt that waiting child.

"Adoption is a gift of life." Hemlata Momaya, MSW, Executive Director
2016 Congressional "Angels in Adoption" Award Recipient
"Thanks to God, my family, and Aunty Hemlata for giving me a second chance to live a life that I would never have had in India. My name is Kariyappa and I was adopted in Bangalore in India. I was adopted at six {years old}. Thanks to Bal Jagat, I have a family, who loves me and cares for me. I have future that I can look toward and that I can be proud of. If I was living in India, I would have … had nowhere to go to. Bal Jagat has changed that. Aunty Hemlata is an extraordinary person… I will always be grateful to her just like my family for what they have done for me. What I really like about Aunty Hemlata is that she never forgets the kids that she brings to other countries. She keeps them close to her heart as if they are her own. She loves the kids and the job that she does. She is another mother to the children that she adopts in my eyes." - Kariyappa G (Adopted Child from India)
"We have hired them.. We glad that we took a chance and it paid off. They guide us throughout the complex journey of adoption especially from India. They responded all our question on time and even contacted government agencies as needed to expedite adoption process. They are family to us as we do not imagine how we may have completed our family without them. We highly recommended Mausami and Hemlata for your adoption needs." "I can't say enough about this agency as they really care about the adopting families and the children being adopted. They will do what's in the best interest for you and the children even if it means referring you to another agency. I recommend everyone interest in adopting please give Mausami a call!!!"- Seni S. "My wife and I had a very pleasant experience with Bal Jagat since changing over from another agency. The social worker was easy to talk to, kind, and we enjoyed the time spent with her during the home study. Hemlata and Mausami have been very professional in how they conduct their business. On a personal note, we find them always available, very nice, and pleasant to talk to and are glad that we have met them and are going through Bal Jagat." - Rick & Donna G.
